Presidents Message

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and a great New Year. This year, we begin our Fifty-Second year as a front line fraternal organization. With a roll of well over 7500 active and retired members. How could anyone have predicted back in 1956 that the Society, can now claim to be the largest and strongest organization in the New York City Fire Department.

Last November 2nd, we celebrated our Fifty First Annual Dance honoring two great Irishmen of the Year.
Our own, Chief Patrick McNally, Chief of Operations and Lt. Patrick Concannon, President, of the Fire Family Transport. Our Dance drew well over 500 people in attendance and once again, a great  crowd. On hand were The Emerald Societies Pipes and Drums Band, who performed exceptionally. Proving why they are one of the top Pipe & Drum Bands in our nation.

On September 11th, 2007 The St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee held their meeting to kick off the parade season.
I attended this meeting and was glad to be informed that The New York City Fire Department was to be placed back in it's proper position in The Line of March.
Unfortunately, nothing comes without stipulations. We, as an Organization must police ourselves. We must have pride for both our uniform and the traditions of the FDNY.
The Parade Committee "DOES NOT" want outsiders in the Parade. Firefighters from Out of State or from other Countries that wish to march, "MUST" contact The St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee. And seek their permission. Hopefully they can be placed with other Counties or Organizations.
The Emerald Society is not allowed to invite groups to march with us in the parade. Please try to abide by these rules and help us to have a successful outing on March 17th.

Our standard Dues Sheets have been sent to all the Firehouses and is also available from the website.
If you do not receive these sheets, call your company delegates. Ask for them!
If there isn't a Delegate in your house...Please Step Up and be that Guy! Email me or call the Hotline.

We need new blood! When was the last time you paid your Dues? Probie School? On Rotation? Covering a spot after being Promoted? Think about it? MAKE A MEETING AND GET YOUR DUES BACK! Refreshments & Food Always Served.  All Meetings Start @ 8:00 PM let people know your Irish Heritage isn't a one day affair.

Next Meeting:
                              AMERICAN LEGION
                             CITY ISLAND, THE BRONX
                              APRIL 9th, 2008 ,  8:00 PM.

THERE WILL BE NO MEETING IN THE MONTH OF MARCH.
ENJOY A SAFE AND WONDERFUL ST. PATRICK'S DAY.

Fraternally Yours,
